- Necessary when admitting a pt. that requires imminent surgery
Use the DAVIID format:
- – NPO (nothing by mouth)
- – AAT with restrictions & immobilization
- – VSR, CSM q4h (specify limb)
- – IV (bolus & maintenance)
- – CBC, lytes, BUN/Cr, INR/PTT (not necessary in children)
- CXR, ECG prn
- Blood – group & reserve
- – analgesia
- Fragmin 5000 IU SC q 22hrs. (therefore it is not given immediately prior to surgery)
- Ancef 1 gm IV on-call to OR
