Subspecialty Theme of the Month, October 2011

Total knee arthroplasty is considered to be the gold standard for tricompartmental knee arthritis. By contrast, unicompartmental knee arthritis has many treatment alternatives that have advantages and disadvantages. In October's Subspecialty Theme of the Month articles, reprinted with permission from the Summer 2008 issue of COA Bulletin, Drs. Backstein, Winemaker, Bohm, Turgeon, Gandhi, and Mohamed will discuss aspects of treating unicompartnmental knee arthritis:

  • Patellofemoral arthroplasty
  • Unicompartmental arthroplasty
  • Total knee arthroplasty
  • High tibial osteotomy
  • Knee bracing
