Program Highlights

  • Didactic program:
    • Weekly core curriculum session covering wide-ranging topics in clinical specialties and basic science
    • Friday Grand Rounds continuing weekly theme from core curriculum
    • Weekly clinical orthopaedic series
    • Anatomy sessions
    • Weekly sessions to review current patients and surgical treatment options

  • Up to 8 months spent in research
  • Rehabilitation experience integrated into each clinical service, especilly in adult reconstruction, trauma, sports, hand, spine, and pediatric

Program Curriculum

  • PGY-1: Monthly rotations including general surgery and polytrauma, vascular surgery, burn surgery, neurosurgery, intensive care units, emergency room, anesthesia, rheumatology, other medical services, and orthopaedics
  • PGY-2: Rotations through clinical orthopaedic services including trauma, pediatric, combined sports/hand/foot service, arthroscopy, reconstructive surgery
  • PGY-3: Trauma, spine, adult reconstruction (joint replacement and oncology), hip and knee joint replacement, plus an elective rotation
  • PGY-4: Rotations in sports, hand, research, outpatient clinic with rheumatology, and two rotations as chief resident, one on the orthopaedic service and one in adult reconstruction and hand/upper extremity
  • PGY-5: Chief resident clinical rotations in trauma, spine, pediatrics, and adult reconstruction; completion and presentation of research project
