Flexor carpi radialis
How to do it
With the patient seated and fingers extended, flex the wrist. Push down on the palm as the patient resists with flexor carpi radialis activity.
The normal response
Grade 5 strength. The examiner is able to break flexor carpi radialis strength only with considerable difficulty.
What it means if not normal
Comments
The flexor carpi radialis muscle is innervated by the median nerve (C6-C7).
